What are the benefits of adding a blog
to your website?
How to add a blog to a website.
How much does it cost
to add a blog to a website?
To add a blog to a website is not that difficult. Or, having somebody else add a blog to your website is not
that expensive, it's not that expensive through us, TnT, anyway, but why add a blog to your website?
Adding a blog to a website you already have is usually much cheaper than getting a separate blog altogether. Granted,
a separate blog can provide a place away from your main site to add backlinks to your main site, but adding a blog
to your exisiting website keeps everything nicely in one place, within the same website hosting package, and you
can still add links to your main site.
What are the other benefits of adding a blog to your website?
The perfect Search Engine friendly domain name you may want for a separate blog may already be taken, and
even if your perfect domain name isn't already taken, when knowing that a strong search engine friendly
domain name is important if you want to try improve your chances of getting easily found when people
search for something on the Internet, then you can easily still have that perfect domain name, by giving your blog (that
is part of your website) that same domain name. If your already have a fairly strong website domain name, your blog
name URL may be even stronger as part of your website domain name, that it would have been on its own.
How is this for a nice strong URL for example: http://www.workfromhomeideas.co.za/work-from-home-south-africa (?)
If you're targetting people looking for work from home ideas on the Internet, and particularly work from home
ideas in South Africa, then this URL is a nice strong Search Engine friendly URL. (It is the
URL of the Work From Home South Africa blog that is added to this Work From Home Ideas website.)
This
Search Engine friendly URL can be made even stronger by thinking about the titles of the articles you write for
your blog, eg this is the URL of an article on our Work From Home South Africa blog:
http://workfromhomeideas.co.za/work-from-home-south-africa/ideas-for-working-from-home-in-south-africa This is a
lot of "work from home," "ideas," and "south Africa" all in one URL, making this URL a nice strong URL for
making Search Engines like Google happy, and when Search Engine spiders visit your site, they are more likely to
"report back" that your site or article deserves a good search result.
If the domain name work-from-home-south-africa.co.za was already taken, we don't have to be sad about missing
out on being the first to register that domain, because we have an even stronger URL by calling our blog, on
our workfromhomeideas.co.za site, Work From Home South Africa.
There are more than 1 000 free WordPress blog themes to choose from, so you are quite likely to find something
that at least slightly resembles the colours of your main website. You can make the WordPress blog look even
more like your site, by perhaps adding the same header banner to it. On some WordPress blog themes you can do
this yourself, or you may have to hire somebody to place the header banner for you.
To load a WordPress site to your main site, you would have to check with your website host if they
support WordPress blogs being uploaded to the host server (check that the hosting package supports PHP and MySQL.) You
would also need to check how much space your hosting package has, to see if there is enough space for the
WordPess site on the same host server as your website.) It might also be a good idea to check that you
have a lot of bandwidth in your hosting package because if you add a lot of search friendly articles to
your WordPress blog, there's a chance you may start seeing an increase in traffic to your site. You don't want
people to get to your site and then not be able to view it because your bandwidth for the month has run out, and
will only start again in the next month. Our hosting packages offer unlimited bandwidth.
What is so great about WordPress blogs, or most kinds of blogs for that matter?
One of the greatest advantages of having a blog is that you don't have to know html website design coding to
add your own articles.
You can generally just write directly in the dashboard of your WordPress blog, then click publish, or you
can even write offline first, then just copy and paste your article.
A WordPress blog is an excellent cheap alternative to getting a content management system for your website. Or, if
you don't have a content management system for your website, at least it saves you on the costs of asking your
web designer to make updates and changes to your website, for example regards news or price changes, because
you can just make these changes yourself.
If you are not too used to using the Internet or being online, there may be a bit of a learning curve
involved, but just studying your WordPress dashboard can help you a ton, and there are also free WordPress
lesson sites. It's not that difficult if you just fiddle and experiment, or take the time to read.
There are also great WordPress widgets that generally help improve traffic to your blog even more, or at least
offer your visitors plenty of interest. (A WordPress widget is a section in your sidebar of your blog (or at the
top or bottom of your site or in all these positions) that you add as a plugin, for free, from within your
WordPress dashboard.)
Bottom line:
You can add a WordPress blog to your website for free yourself! Just find out from your website hosting
service provider about space, bandwidth and allowance for PHP and MySQL.
Or, you could rather have us, TnT, add a WordPress blog to your existing website, for just R140,
once off. This price includes the upload of the WordPress site (we need your website ftp and log
in details that you got from your host server provider when you ordered hosting for your site) and also includes
adding your chosen free WordPress theme, or you can change the basic theme we provide you with for another
one later, and this R140 also includes adding a simple text link that links to your blog somewhere on the
homepage of your existing website.
We do, however, charge extra if you are wanting further help with managing your WordPress blog, or if you are
wanting any customization done.
PS! If you don't yet have a website, A WordPress blog is a fantastic and affordable
alternative. For just R420 per year you get a domain registered, hosting, unlimited professional email
addresses (they do take up some of your host server space, but you can have them if you want them eg info@,
support@, yournname@ etc etc) and the site itself of course.
The hosting package has enough space to add about
30 to 40 pages of content to your WordPress blog. The R720 per year WordPress package provides enough space for
you to add about 200 pages of content to your site. This "content" is mostly text. Adding too many photos or
images reduces the amount of pages your site can have in either of the packages. BUT, wow, let's say you manage
about 25 pages on your R420 per year WordPress package with a few images. How much would you pay to have your
own 25 page website designed where you can't even add your own writing and images? Nowhere near anything as
little as R420 per year.
(Or, how much would it cost you to add about 25 pages, via a
website designer, to your existing site? Anywhere near just R140?)
Plenty more details, site examples, and frequently asked questions about this R420 per year WordPress blog package
can be found on our
Your Own Cheap Website page of our 1pic4twenty.co.za site.
You can also email us (although we are probably still going to insist you read the info we link to above on
our 1pic4twenty.co.za site too) but email us if there's something we have not covered, and you're
keen to know more!
Isn't this just simply a marvelous affordable opportunity to advertise online the work from home services or products
you offer?
