How often doesn't it happen that we rush along through our day moaning about our current
financial mess?
Now picture this: you take the kids to school, and because you're feeling a bit stressed out, you
decide to go for a walk around the school. While you're walking there are areas where you have to step
carefully, to avoid the pine cones. A little further, there is a large patch of wild grasses, almost shoulder
height. You get past that, and then have some fun kicking little acorn cups around.
And so your little ramble progresses, through natural obstacles. You get back to your car, and immediately
phone a friend, who knows somebody who is friends with the Mayor's dentist. You moan. You groan. You are
not happy with all the muck and rubbish and untidy sidewalks, and all that wild vegetation!
Guess what? You can use all the natural found objects you have been moaning about!
Acorn cups, with a little glue, some paint and a few pieces of string make lovely little fantasy beings. Now
take a few little branches, and make swings for the acorn beings. Of course the larger seed pods can be used to
make interesting boats, or fantasy steeds. Kids love these little characters.
Grasses, cut, dried, and bundled as home decor items are popular. You may even be lucky enough to find a few arum
lilies to use, or even bulrushes.
Don't burn the bamboo until you have harvested some. Bamboo makes very good decorative items, such as candle
holders, incense holders, wind-chimes, and even bookmarks. Use bamboo to make decorative hair accessories.
Off cuts of bamboo, with a few pieces of sisal or string make really charming brooms and mops, and also
buckets - for children's dolls to "use" or simply as cute ornaments or items in a mobile.
The scrap piece of wood you tossed into the bush? Use the wood to carve out a fish, or a sea horse, or even a
bird.
No money, but plenty of natural found objects lying around...
Terry and Tony started out selling plants from home, and making and selling objects made from natural found
objects...
